Touch
As a global leading TFT-LCD manufacturer, AUO provides total solutions for touch panels and LCD integrations. Our dedicated R&D team continues to improve the optical performance and integrated functions of touch panels. AUO is able to provide value-added and high performance touch panels in two types of structures: Glass-on-Glass and One Glass Solution (OGS).

By Integrating ITO (Indium Tin Oxide) sensor on the backside of the cover glass, the weight and thickness of touch panels can be reduced dramatically.
AUO provides two OGS processes depending on customer requirements: Sheet-type and Chip-type. The Sheet-type OGS structure has entered mass production, and Chip-type OGS will also be available in 2012.
In terms of the Sheet-type OGS process, the sheet glass is strengthened first, undergoing the TP process to be cut into pieces. Then, advanced post process technology is applied to strengthen the glass edge. The advantage lies in the high-precision photo process to achieve narrow bezel design and efficient production.
As for the Chip-type OGS process, the cover-lens is cut into small pieces from the sheet glass first, undergoing a chemical strengthening process. Then TP processing is conducted. By applying this process, full glass strength is retained to support multi-color and curvy (2.5D) cover-lens.
Features of Sheet-type OGS
- Projected capacitive multi-touch technology
- Super-slim and light (one glass w/ TP) module integrated with protection and touch sensor glass
- Simplify production process without lamination
- Superior touch performance (~90% transmittance)
- Outstanding touch performance (lower RC loading than film type)
- Support super narrow bezel product design
- Support full-size applications (3’~27’)
- APP (Advanced Post Process) to keep glass strength
Features of Chip-type OGS
- Projected capacitive multi-touch technology
- Ultra-slim and light one-glass touch module
- Simplify production process without hard to hard lamination
- Support super narrow bezel product design
- Support curvy (2.5D) cover-lens
- Superior optical performance (~90% transmittance)
- Superior touch performance (lower RC loading than film type)
- Achieve highly efficient production by conducting high-tech array production technology
G/G type is composed of protection glass and TP sensor glass, with mass production began in 2011. G/G type is largely applied to mobile products, public information display and various other applications. However, G/G type requires extra laminating process, which leads to a more complicated production process than OGS type.
Features of Glass on Glass Solution Type
- Projected capacitive multi-touch technology
- Support thick cover lens(>1.1t) for large-sized application
- Support full-size applications
- Support curvy (2.5D) cover-lens
- Superior optical performance (~88% transmittance)
- Superior touch performance (lower RC loading than film type)
- Support special bezel deco color
