In response to the government’s “2-Year Solar Power Promotion Plan", AUO Corporation ("AUO" or the "Company") has been continuously accelerating its pace in developing solar power systems in recent years. In addition to focusing on rooftop solar power plants, the Company has extended its reach to the ground mount and floating solar power markets to demonstrate its comprehensive capability for solar power plant development, achieving win-win by creating exceptional energy performance for customers while pursuing environmental sustainability.

Profound Experience in Building Rooftop, Ground Mount and Floating Solar Power Plants

AUO has accumulated years of experience in developing rooftop solar power systems with successful track records across Taiwan. This year, numerous rooftop solar power projects have been completed, including the 998kW grid-connected solar power plant at the momo.com Inc. North Distribution Center and the 499kW solar project on top of the parking shed at the Hota Industrial Mfg. Co. factory. In terms of large scale projects, AUO has won the 7MW power plant bid at Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School in Kaohsiung and the 2.1MW power plant bid at Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation in Taichung.

In recent years, AUO further extended its reach to ground mount and floating projects to meet demands for more and different kinds of solar power plants. In terms of ground mount solar power systems, AUO has won the 3.5MW solar power system bid for the landfill of Guanmiao District, Tainan City, which will allow the landfill to be able to generate power and create more financial value. Due to the environmental condition above water, the module temperature of floating solar power systems can be reduced, resulting in 3% to 5% higher energy efficiency than rooftop systems. Therefore the government has been enthusiastically promoting floating solar power plants in the past few years. This year AUO has won three project bids on flood detention ponds in Tainan and Kaohsiung, totaling an installed capacity of 12MW.

AUO is actively developing solar power systems, and by the end of year 2017 it is expected that the Company will achieve an installed capacity doubling that of last year, contributing to an accumulated installed capacity of 125MW.

High Efficiency, High Humidity and Salt Mist Resistant Solar Modules for Diverse Power Plant Demands

To meet the demand of all types of solar power plants, AUO has continued to develop solar modules fit for special environments. By leveraging the same Sunforte and SunVivo mono-crystalline solar module production lines, AUO offers the 72-cell high efficiency N-PERT mono-crystalline module and the 310W P-PERC mono-crystalline module. Both of these new products possess 12-Bus-Bar design, which enhances power efficiency and higher ability to resist micro cracks within solar cells. The N-PERT mono-crystalline module, with an impressive power output of 395W, is specially designed for floating and ground mount power plants, and could significantly increase the amount of power generated per unit area and lower system costs per unit compared with other mono-crystalline counterparts. The module was also tested for light-induced degradation (LID) resistance and is capable of achieving near zero LID in its first year. The module, when compared with conventional models, is able to endure 10% higher wind pressure to withstand severe environmental conditions, providing power plants with a superior choice of module. The P-PERC mono-crystalline module is capable of reaching 310W power output with a mere 60-cell design, particularly suitable for high power generation demand of rooftop power plants.

To fulfill the demand of high weather tolerant solar power plants, AUO offers solar modules capable of resisting high humidity, salt mist, and high wind pressure, fit for solar power plants in severe weather and environmental conditions such as above the water or in saline areas. The humidity resistant capability of the module parts has been raised by over 40%, and salt mist resistance is also twelve times higher than industry average to ensure outstanding power performance despite being installed in harsh environmental conditions.

AUO will participate in PV Taiwan 2017 to be held from October 18 to 20 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center. Aside from showcasing the latest high efficiency and salt mist resistant solar modules, AUO will also display its smart cloud PV monitoring IoT solution. We cordially invite you to join us at the show.
